I'm Alfred Barten. I develop online help systems for a living. My first career was as an architect. My post-retirement career will be as a writer/publisher.

This site is my crucible. I plan to have fun with it and, by the way, share some of my published and unpublished works. Subjects include online document design, histories of New England trolley lines, and stories of famous trolley cars and locomotives. In the time since I began this site, I have found train and railway simulation to be of great interest to most of my visitors. Thus my focus has shifted to to this arena.
