^WORKS IN PROGRESS
Railroad Tycoon (RRT), created in 1990 by Sid Meier for Microprose, ushered in a new era of corporate strategy games. In the train sim world, there's: We've heard that Sid Meier, who had been away from RRT development for awhile, is back at it and working on RRT4. There's also a Gamespot news item from 2004 that reports Auran is developing a transport fleet management game known at ths moment as Tranzportation. As far as we know, Auran is still working on it.

Corporate strategy sims generally begin with a landscape that has relatively undeveloped towns/cities and industries, and natural features such as lakes/rivers and hills/valleys/mountains and industries. You are staked to a bank loan and now must use it wisely to build and operate transportation systems to meet the needs of the populace and industries. Depending on the level of play you choose, you may encounter competition. The games vary from one another as to features and detail, but generally all provide means of creating add-on scenarios and/or objects such as rolling stock and buildings. These games have a way of holding your interest for extended perods of time, mixing game play and world watching. Most have some sort of demo available for download, which will give an idea of the game's features and appearance.
