The annual North Yorkshire Moors Railway Steam Gala returns and features a full steam locomotive programme.
Steam has returned to the popular heritage railway, after recent fire restrictions forced the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) to temporarily retire its steam locomotives.
The gala will feature a line-up of over a dozen locomotives, as well as a beer festival, trade stands and demonstrations.
The annual Steam Gala runs from From Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 September.
Laura Strangeway, Director of Business Services and Deputy CEO of NYMR, said: “This summer has been challenging with dry weather sparking a number of lineside fires.
“Recent rain has reduced the fire risk enough to allow us to bring steam back in as part of a phased approach, guided by the North York Moors National Park.
“It also means that we can confirm that [the] gala will live up to its bill and will be a true celebration of steam locomotives.
Some of the locomotives making an appearance at the gala are BR Standard 5 No.73156, LNER A4 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ No. 60007 and No. 85 Taff Vale Railway Class 02.
Single-day adult tickets are priced at £45, with two-day, three-day and four-day options also available.
