Alstom delivers the first new locomotive to Turkey

Alstom has announced that it has handed over the 1st of the 26 locomotives to Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları (TCDD).

The contract for the construction of 26 locomotives with ETCS (European Train Control System) level 1 and 2 also provides for the installation of signaling and communication systems approximately 260 km east of Ankara to Balıkesir.

The new system will allow TCDD to efficiently manage its rail services on the Eskişehir-Balıkesir line and will also increase the capacity of the lines.

The EKB project includes the modernization of the track covering the design, manufacture and supply of the track using Alstom’s signaling system, Atlas.
