Alstom has announced that it has handed over the 1st of the 26 locomotives to Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları (TCDD).
The contract for the construction of 26 locomotives with ETCS (European Train Control System) level 1 and 2 also provides for the installation of signaling and communication systems approximately 260 km east of Ankara to Balıkesir.
The new system will allow TCDD to efficiently manage its rail services on the EskiÅehir-Balıkesir line and will also increase the capacity of the lines.
The EKB project includes the modernization of the track covering the design, manufacture and supply of the track using Alstom’s signaling system, Atlas.
Mama Sougoufara, Managing Director of Alstom MENAT and Turkey, said: âAs a long-term partner, we are committed to continue to support TCDD in its mission to improve its rail technology and improve safety and capacity. of the line. With the new on-board ETCS, the locomotives will offer an advanced level of safety beyond the capabilities of the old automatic train protection (ATP) systems. It will also reduce the total cost of operating the EKB line and standardize line length and on-board equipment while ensuring common communication between countries. Indeed, we are very proud of what we have accomplished with TCDD â,
