Hagley Hall steam locomotive 4930 begins line trials at Severn Valley Railway

GWR Hall No. 4930 Hagley Hall has completed its first trial run on the Severn Valley Railway.

After a final review by the BES Boiler Inspector yesterday (June 22), 4930 was approved to begin line testing on the Severn Valley Railway.

Following attention to a minor brake issue, the 4930 Hagley Hall paired up with the 2999 Lady of Legend for the run south to Hampton Loade.

Once at Hampton Loade, 4930 uncoupled from the Saint and returned to Bridgnorth under its own power, its first time operating on the SVR under its own power since 1986.

The locomotive then made another round trip between Bridgnorth and Hampton Loade in the afternoon, part of which can be viewed in the video below by Steam Valley Productions:

This news follows the milestone reached last month when 4930 Hagley Hall took its first steps around Bridgnorth Works. You can watch the video about it here.

The SVR says it cannot make firm commitments as to when the locomotive will be tested or when it should be back in service, but says both of these targets should be achieved in the coming months.
