Inspection of Odisha’s Mahipur-Nuagaon Railway Line Today – The New Indian Express

BHUBANESWAR: Construction of the much awaited Mahipur-Nuagaon railway section of the ongoing Khurda Road-Balangir railway line project has been completed.

The track is likely to be open to traffic after a high level inspection by the Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS), South Eastern Circle, Kolkata on Wednesday.

East Coast Railway (ECR) sources said the 3.099 km Khurda Road Bypass line has also been completed except for the 13.05 km line between Mahipur Railway Station and Mahipur Railway Station. from Nuagaon.

The lines will be opened to traffic after they have been declared fit for train traffic. The Khurda Road-Bypass line will be inspected on Friday.

Considering the inspection, Nayagarh Town-Bhubaneswar Express was canceled on Wednesday for moving different machinery and inspection trains in the section. People were advised to be careful during engine movement for track inspection and to keep livestock/other animals away.

Sanctioned in 1994-95, the 289 km project was blocked due to a delay in land acquisition. When completed, the project will provide a vital rail link to some of the most backward districts in the state.

So far, about 96 km of railway including 65.455 km from Khurda Road to Nayagarh Town, 12 km from Nayagarh Town to Mahipur and 14.58 km from Balangir to Bichhupalli have been completed and put into operation.
