KTR on a railway project for Gujarat

Hyderabad: The incumbent chairman of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), KT Rama Rao has once again castigated the central government led by Narendra Modi for discriminating against Telangana.

“From Gujarat, by Gujarat, for Gujarat and to Gujarat – New definition of democracy,” he tweeted on Friday in reaction to the Prime Minister’s announcement of an electric locomotive engine project for Gujarat.

“Despite promises made in parliament, Warangal in Telangana is being denied the locomotive factory. Shame on you NPA Govt,” added Rama Rao, who recently referred to the NDA government as a “non-performing assets (NPA)” government.

KTR, the popular nickname of Rama Rao, was reacting to a tweet from Professor K. Nageshwar, a former member of the Legislative Council. “No to Kazipet Coach Factory. But Modi is announcing an electric locomotive engine project which is said to be worth Rs. 21,969 crores to Gujarat. This is Gujarat’s model of politics and governance,” said tweeted Nageshwar.

Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Telangana State Planning Council, B. Vinod Kumar, claimed that the Prime Minister did not shy away from “showing mother-in-law treatment” towards Telangana.

He said Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for upgrading the railway workshop in Dahod, Gujarat, into a locomotive production plant, even as Telangana continued to be denied any railway projects.

He said the Center was not sanctioning any big plans for Telangana, but was announcing special measures for states heading to the polls.

Vinod Kumar pointed out that the PA Reorganization Act stipulates that Indian Railways should look into the feasibility of establishing a coach factory in Telangana and improving rail connectivity, but this was ignored by the central government.
