The O Gauge 2-6-2T Class 3MT locomotive was built by James Stanley Benson of Ringwood, Hampshire – an exceptionally talented model train maker who lived between 1909 and 1990.
Models made by Benson are much admired and highly sought after among collectors and this model is finished as BR 82007.
The model was also illustrated once in the October 1960 issue of Railway Modeller magazine.
Other model locomotives for sale at auctioneers, based in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, include a private collection of Wrenn models.
A Wrenn W2289 Canadian Pacific Locomotive Southern 21C5 is also on offer with an estimated retail price of £250-£350.
A Bing O Gauge Live Steam 4-4-0 Black Prince 1902 will also be auctioned and could sell for between £300-500.
