Samuel Knight is looking for people to join many exciting opportunities for Locomotive Maintainers from Wiltshire Depot

Please note that the rail experience is NOT essential, but desired. An engineering background is required. All training will be provided and the opportunity to acquire more qualifications.

What you will do:

You will need to perform fault diagnosis and correction on the electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems to ensure that they are all in order.

You will need to have strong cooperation skills and enjoy working in small and large teams as you will be required to cooperate with the Maintenance Team Coordinator and other team members at the depot. This is to ensure that all work associated with the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Traction & Rolling is carried out professionally, safely and within strict deadlines.

You will need to be vigilant and knowledgeable to ensure that any necessary action is taken to eliminate potential hazards.

To maintain control of the health, safety and well-being of yourself and your colleagues

You will have to provide your help and assistance for any breakdown and/or recovery operations and other rolling stock incidents that are necessary.

You will be required to assist in the management of work safety systems and hazard assessments.

You will need to understand and work on the maintenance plans (VMOI).

You will need to generate reports for any work in progress, status reports, and production reports.

You will need to report any faulty items.

You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

If necessary, you will be required to actively participate in accident investigations.

Once fully trained, you will be expected to assist with on-the-job training of other team members, interns and contractors as needed.

It is essential to undertake and commit to any required training that will aid in the development of the team and the management of the repository and beyond.

You will be required to work with different classes of rolling stock so it is essential that you are prepared to learn and grow as this is a versatile role.

You will be required to operate various motorized devices (subject to training/certification and reassessment).

It is essential for safe work that the site is clean. You will therefore have to contribute to the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment.

Experience in a similar position in the railway sector would be advantageous, but not essential.

Please note: Successful candidates will work 7am to 3am Monday to Friday. Subject to change.
