You can stop along the way at Orton Mere, Overton, and Wansford to soak up the scenery and step back when you’re ready.
NVR schedules vary depending on the day and if there are any special events running on the schedule.
Let’s take a look …
A series of fabulous events will take place in the second half of August, as guest star LMS Jubilee 45596 Bahamas class locomotive arrives in the valley.
On the weekend of August 21-22 and the holiday weekend of 28-29-30, the Bahamas will carry passenger trains, including one of the popular Jolly Fisherman dining trains on Saturdays. A shuttle service will also be in operation during events.
Tickets sell out quickly: Jolly Fisherman’s traditional fish and chips are sold out for the 21st, but there are still plenty for the 28!
Consult the schedule of the special event + shuttle.
If traveling behind the Bahamas isn’t enough for you, why not learn how to drive it? The Bahamas Steam Driver Experience offers you an hour of lesson and an hour on the step of the 45996! The event will take place on August 19, 20, 26 and 27.
Most standard travel days by the end of October follow the yellow schedule. The railway will operate mainly on weekends, while Wednesdays through September 1 will have special events for families.
A Railcar shuttle will run along the main road on August 18 and 25, on its own schedule, while the times will be changed slightly to a single day on September 4.
The last weekend of October will host an event with the beloved Thomas Shuttle, and of course will have its own schedule.
In November, Sunday 7 and Saturdays 13 and 20 will follow the orange schedule.
And, from the weekend of November 27 to 28 in December until Christmas Eve, Santa Claus arrives aboard his festive Steam Express.
