BHOPAL: The third railway line between Bhopal and Habibganj station was opened to traffic from Wednesday. Upon completion of the work of the third 5.93 km railway line between Habibganj – Bhopal station on the Itarsi-Bhopal railway section of the West Central railway, Bhopal division, railway safety commissioner, circle central, Mumbai, ANK Jain inspected and gave the green signal for its use.
On this occasion, Administrative Director (Construction) Rajesh Argal from Jabalpur Headquarters, Udaya Borwanker Railway Division Director of Bhopal Railway Division, Project Manager (RVNL) Atul Nigam and other senior executives engineering, electricity, signaling and telecommunications. department were present.
Jain inspected the safety and security related resources, the OHE line, associated equipment, signaling and others on this section of rail and tested their effectiveness. Meanwhile, a successful speed test was carried out at a speed of 120 km / h with an electric motor on the third line between Habibganj – Bhopal.
Satisfied with the quality of the work, Jain gave permission to operate trains on the third rail line at a speed of 90 km / h initially by electric locomotives.
DRM Borwanker said that the railway line between Habibganj and Bhopal crosses boulders and rocky roads, so it was very difficult to create a new line there. This work had been on hold for several months and Bhopal’s board of directors coordinated with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited and other related agencies to expedite and complete this work.
Due to the construction of the third line, trains coming from the direction of Itarsi will no longer have to stop before Bhopal and these trains can be taken from any platform from platform 2 to 6.
Large numbers of people from Bhopal to Habibganj break the rules when crossing the train tracks and risk their lives. With the introduction of the third line, crossing the tracks will be even more dangerous. The railway administration called on citizens to only use level crossing gates, upper bridges or subways to cross the tracks.
DRM Borwanker said that this problem can be completely resolved if the district administration builds the upper walkway in the appropriate place according to the needs of the citizens. In the next phase, the Bhopal division will also undertake the third line from Mandideep to Barkheda and the remodeling of the Bhopal courtyard, which will make rail transport more organized in this area.
There are also plans to complete the development of passenger facilities at Sant Hirdaram Nagar station and Nishatpura in the near future, Borwanker said.
