Palm Springs Aerial Tram Reopens

After being closed for more than a month while undergoing its annual maintenance, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway reopens on Monday.

You can take the first tram at 10:00 a.m., the last tram at 8:00 p.m. where the last tram to get off will be at 9:30 p.m.

Trams leave approximately every 30 minutes.

This year, the maintenance of the tram included the repositioning of the track cables, the change of the suspended cables, as well as the liners and bushings of the suspended cable sheaves. At the same time, complete mechanical and electrical tests of the tram systems were carried out.

“Customer safety is always our number one concern at the Tram,” says General Manager Nancy Nichols, “and our annual maintenance shutdown is essential to ensure that. “

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the world’s largest rotating streetcar that opened in the early 1960s.

Each tram can accommodate 80 passengers who travel along the cliffs of Chino Canyon from Valley Station to Mountain Station (elevation 8,516 ft) in just about 10 minutes.
