Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, attended the program âSqueezing 165 years of railway workers’ meetingâ which took place in the TCDD Behiç Erkin meeting room.
Stating that it was exciting to celebrate the 165th anniversary of the railroads, Minister Bilgin said, âI congratulate your 165th anniversary as a railroad worker. When I was managing director, there was a lot of talk about high speed rail in Turkey, but whenever the topic of high speed train was brought up, people would smile because such a thing was not possible. At that time, there was a railway rehabilitation project. I convinced the minister at the time, we said to ourselves that we could transform this project into a high-speed train project. But all the legislation was a preparation in order to make double lines in certain areas on the railway, to facilitate the road. We made it a high speed train project and I presented the high speed train project at a press conference. For the realization of the high-speed train project, our president Recep Tayyip ErdoÄan has given great support to the railways, transferred resources, and the high-speed train has now reached the stage to travel all over Turkey, it is a matter of pride for us. used the expression.
“Railways are the locomotive of the industrial age”
Stating that the high speed train between Ankara and Istanbul will be in Istanbul in about 3 hours with some arrangements, Bilgin said: âIt is exciting to see this dream come true in 20 years. While I was working at the University of Gazi, the reason I was interested in this sector was: Why has Turkey been slow to industrialize? During my research, I saw the importance of railways. If there are 10 books on railways in Turkey, 5 of them have my signature. I have discussed the relationship between railways and development in various theses. Railways are the carriers and locomotives of the industrial age. The industrial revolution cannot take place without the railroad, this is one of the most important reasons for our delay. In the past 20 years, about $ 20 billion of resources have been transferred to the railways, I think this resource is the driving force for Turkey’s development.
“The face of Turkey’s development goes through the railways”
Pointing out that there are always those who do slanderous literature and negative propaganda in Turkey, Bilgin continued, âThese are people who do not believe in Turkey’s power, creativity, energy and power. to the potential of the Turkish people. Turkey now continues the hustle and bustle of the period Behiç Bey started, with high speed trains. It is one of the most important resources for our development. The Railway Industry is in fact the source of industrialization, produces the engineering from there, the elements of the automobile industry are born from the railway factories. The face of Turkey’s development is railways, and Turkey has entered this path, albeit late, and is moving rapidly on this path. We should not only look at Turkey’s political successes, we should see it as a matter of progress for Turkey, it is Turkey’s success. Let’s always look at the negative, understanding that everything is wrong is a problematic understanding. Let’s keep our self-confidence high, Turkey can achieve it, if Turkey achieves an export of more than 100 billion dollars, when the national and national automobiles enter the scene, we should be proud to quickly take the steps that we have left behind us. I think that progressing on this path should increase our self-confidence.
“Turkey is expected to experience growth of around 10% by the end of this year”
Recalling that international organizations have made negative statements in connection with the project against Turkey, Bilgin said: âThey all regretted it, they changed the expectation figures which they announced soon. There is a project against Turkey in the Mediterranean, Libya, Syria and all this geography. Let’s try to understand the international powers a bit, the country they have held under control for many years is getting out of hand, and they are also surprised. The operations against Turkey are efforts to bring it back under control. By the end of this year, I hope Turkey will see growth of around 10%. I’m not saying this by chance, analyzing Turkey’s growth, measuring growth in which sectors and how, measuring the value created by domestic added value and labor, those who think negatively in Turkey should get rid of their prejudices, âhe said.
Adil KaraismailoÄlu, Minister of Development and Infrastructure, who spoke in the program, said: âOur railways are of strategic importance beyond the economic and social life of this country and these lands. While many developed countries experienced an economic contraction in 2020, when the effects of the pandemic were felt the hardest, our economy continued its upward trend with growth of 1.8%. With the 7.2% growth rate that we achieved in the first quarter of this year, we have continued the momentum we achieved last year. Our economy grew 2021% in the second quarter from 21.7%, making it the second fastest growing economy in the world. We will continue our stable growth until the end of the year. We owe this growth of our economy to the strong and stable management of the country, to a functioning economy and to a dynamic production system. With your efforts and efforts, we are coming out of this troubled process. With the collective agreements that we have signed, we will accelerate the acceleration of production and help our country build a better future. While achieving our goals and supporting the holistic development of our country, the most important issue for us is you who have put so much effort into this cause. In this regard, all parties have gone to great lengths with goodwill and sincerity to protect your work and sweat in the signed collective agreements. For the first year, 6% in the first 12 months, 6% in the 5 second months and 6% in the first and second 5 months of the second year, as well as inflation differentials will also be taken into account. . Thus, we will continue to protect our coworkers against inflation. I wish the collective agreement good luck, âhe said.
“Our people are the number one reason the wheels turn in the Kovid era”
Türk-Ä°Å President Ergün Atalay said: âI entered this institution half a century ago. My late mother took me to the railroad exam, we all ate bread from this institution. I had the opportunity to work with Vedat when he was general manager. Vedat Bey became Minister of Labor and Social Security of the Republic of Turkey after 18 years. There is no problem when he holds a line. I have never separated workers and officials, we are on the same ship, we are working for the same ideal, we are working for this institution, this country to get a better point. During the Kovid period, we have to thank the healthcare workers, but even if the wheels are turning, the main reason is our employees. In this difficult time, our employees put these wheels neck and neck. From now on, we will continue to work with pleasure for this country, âhe said.
TCDD General Manager TaÅımacılık AÅ Hasan Pezük, TCDD Deputy General Manager Metin AkbaÅ, TÃRASAÅ General Manager Mustafa Metin Yazar and railway workers also attended the program.
