Two Group 1 presents an exciting program of ten races during Randwick Guineas Day 2022.
Bad weather has continued in Sydney this week and we will almost certainly be racing on a heavy track, while the rail will be laid at six meters 1000m-WP and three meters the rest.
Preview brought to you by Ladbrokes. Find out more about Ladbrokes HERE.
Race 1 – 12:20 p.m. – Highway Handicap (1600m)
Moridan faces a step up in class in this week’s Midway Handicap, but he’s returned to racing in smart form, and it looks like a great race for him.
The Maurice colt finished bottom of the field at Randwick on the restart, but coming back midweek proved to be the right call when he broke free to win comfortably at Warwick Farm.
In third form and over a mile, he will take hits again.

Race 2 – 12:55 p.m. – Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m)
Russian Conquest has been outstanding since its debut, and it is she who must be beaten in the Reisling Stakes.
The Russian Revolution filly established herself as someone to watch with a smart win in the Max Lees Classic on her debut in November, and she came back from a refresh for a dominating win at Randwick on Boxing Day.
She takes her place in this realm fresh and after a close run for second place behind Coolangatta in the Magic Millions Classic, and anything close to her best seems to be good enough.

Race 3 – 1:30 p.m. – Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m)
I will stay with Sejardin second in the Todman Stakes.
He established himself as a colt to watch with back-to-back wins in his brief debut build, including Group 3 Breeders’ Plate, and Sejardin returned a competitive effort to fill Inglis’ millennium miners in recovery.
I’m confident he’ll get a big improvement for this effort and even with luck I can’t think of a reason why he won’t be at the finish.

Race 4 – 2:05 p.m. – Listed Randwick City Stakes (2000m)
He clearly needed his first race after a spell to get himself into shape, but I’m confident the Entente will see a lot of improvement in the Randwick City Stakes, and that’s who I want to be with.
Entente has returned many enjoyable performances and results throughout his career, but it’s fair to say he stepped up to a new level during a spring prep last year, which was highlighted by a victory in the Colin Stephen Quality, and a second in close-up. place in The Metropolitan.
He’s been a heavy-court winner before, and we can have a game each way at around $12.

Race 5 – 2:40 p.m. – Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m)
It has indeed become a great horse race, and this year Champ Challenge Stakes did not disappoint, with the likes of Nature Strip and Eduardo accepting.
That being said, Nature Strip was just refused in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes a fortnight ago, and I think it will win this race under James McDonald.
The $1.65 is too short for me, and I’m happy to stick with something later in the season.

Race 6 – 3:20 p.m. – Listed Fireball Stakes (1100m)
Dragonstone is coming back from a short hiatus in the Fireball Stakes, and it’s seen as a key winning chance at an attractive prize ($10 at post).
The Japanese-bred gelding has not failed to place in six trips to the races since his debut, and he returned a smart winner at Kembla Grange in November.
He followed this performance in second company BM72 at Randwick and took a break after saluting midweek.
It’s the hardest job of his career so far, but he tried hard, and I think it’s the perfect opportunity to transition into a black guy business.

Race 7 – 4:00 p.m. – Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m)
Zaaki will make his long-awaited return to racing in the Canterbury Stakes, and it is with him that I want to be.
His recovery effort in the Tramway Stakes in the spring was nothing short of exceptional, and the talented seven-year-old has made progress towards champion status in a campaign marked by two Group 1 wins.
James McDonald has options from the rails draw and we know how good he is, not to mention a rain-affected track.

Race 8 – 4:40 p.m. – Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m)
Anamoe opened our discount favorite in Paris Randwick Guineasand rightly so.
The Street Boss colt hasn’t returned a bad effort since his debut, he’s a two-time Group 1 winner and he was also unlucky not to win the Ladbrokes Cox Plate in the spring.
James McDonald is riding this week, the mile is ideal and even with luck, I can’t find a reason for him not to be at the finish.

Race 9 – 5:20 p.m. – Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m)
Polly Gray has been accused of carrying the heaviest weight, but I still think she’ll take some punches in the Suction quality.
The talented mare didn’t show much in her first comeback race, but she charged to claim an eye-catching victory in the ATC Cup before completing the Summer Cup minors on Boxing Day.
She has been refreshed since that race, had a try and under James McDonald she too can fight for the finish.

Race 10 – 5:55 p.m. – Group 3 Wenona Girl Quality (1200m)
She didn’t show her best in two races this time, but I’m still a big Fituese fan, and I’ll stick with her at a high price in the Wenona Girl Quality ($16 at posting).
She’s a multiple black-type winner, and I thought there were things to like about Fituese’s resumed run for fourth in the Magic Millions Sprint.
It’s fair to say she was flat in the Triscay Stakes last time out, though, but I expect improvement for this run, and it’s another one we can have something for every time.
