The Erlestoke Manor Fund (EMF) recently held a vote on the future of the new Great Western Railway (GWR) 5101 Class 2-6-2T ‘Large Prairie’ No.5164, which laid the foundation for a future good for the engine.
Having joined the Fund last year, shareholders took a vote to determine the future of 5164.
As the vote on 5164 would see the EMF change its constitution. Shareholders voted whether or not to add 5164 to the Fund’s charitable purposes to be preserved and maintained in “authentic livery in full working order for as long as possible”. and No. 7802 “Bradley Manor”.
The vote fell in favor, a momentous occasion for Fund and 5164.
This result now means the trust can begin preliminary inspection work to determine the condition of 5164 and fundraising can begin, with the goal of making an overhaul a viable option. Ultimately, the Fund’s main focus right now is getting 7812 and 7802 back to steam, which is making great strides.
