The Great Central Railway (GCR) has announced running days when visitors can ride behind the new steam locomotive designed by London and North Eastern Railway, Peppercorn A1 Class No.60163 “Tornado”.
“Tornado” was recently moved to the GCR following the withdrawal of mainline services after tire punctures were detected during a racing ability test (FTR).
On hire from GCR, the 60163 will appear a number of days to carry a variety of trains, including:
The master cutler
On Friday January 7th and Friday January 14th, passengers enjoy a five course meal and while traveling along the GCR behind “Tornado”, passing and stopping at the beautiful Swithland Viaduct overlooking the Charnwood Forest.

Working alongside members of the GCR Domestic Fleet, you can travel behind the 60163 for three round trips at the 2022 standard fare on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 January 2022.
