Sandy and Wes Flock in London in the South Western Railway Spot

South Western Railway (SWR) is launching a multimedia campaign, in new work from creative agency St Luke’s. The campaign reminds leisure travelers to spread their wings and take advantage of all that London and the South West has to offer: connecting friends and family with great value ticketing options and lowest prices guaranteed when booking direct with SWR.

The new ‘Sandy & Wes Flock to London’ TV advert hits screens on November 13 and is part of a wider media campaign across OOH, Social, Display and Radio. The campaign will run until the end of December 2022 with media planned and purchased by the7stars.

With Sandy the West Country seagull representing the best of the coast and Wes the lovable pigeon from Peckham, presenting the best of London; the new campaign continues the creative positioning “Spread your wings”.

In the 30-second ad, regular train travelers Sandy (execu-bird) and Wes (the young business-pigeon), resume their conversation as they meet on the London-bound SWR train, enthusiastically sharing the details of the activities and experiences they are planning. . This time, Sandy meets “gull friends” atop The Shard for a Sea-Breeze cocktail; while Wes will enjoy free activities ‘along the South Bank’ to photograph the art and sights of London. As usual, there are plenty of bird-inspired puns.

Calli Ward, Marketing Manager for South Western Railway, says: “Frequent SWR train passengers have told us they enjoy meeting friends and going to restaurants, theatres, cinemas and art galleries. Our new campaign highlights how easy it is to travel to London from the South West and our Avian Ambassadors demonstrate not only the unbeatable value of traveling with SWR, but also the vast choice of entertainment and culture available in London.

Richard Denney, ECD St. Luke’s adds, “Lovely Wes and Sandy continue to spread their wings and enjoy the benefits of SWR, but this time we get a glimpse of what they’re up to after hours and on schedule. , again they have a real hoot.

In its own recent research, South Western Railway found that 71% of respondents felt more positive about traveling with SWR after seeing the brand’s first TVC which featured avian ambassadors Sandy and Wes, in February of This year.
