Second SVR Autumn Diesel Bash Guest Confirmed


The Severn Valley Railway will host a Class 56 mainline locomotive at its Autumn Diesel Bash, courtesy of GB Railfreight.

With the entire class due to be converted to a Class 69 fairly soon, this could be the last opportunity for passengers to experience a journey behind a Class 56. The first converted Class 69 was tested at SVR on behalf of GBRf Last year.

The Class 56 locomotive will be joined by Deltic 55009 ‘Alycidon’ as the guest pair prepare to light up the event, which runs from 29e September – 2n/a October.

Although a specific numbered locomotive has yet to be entered, the chosen Class 56 will only run on the Saturday and Sunday of the event.

Alongside guests, SVR will use a selection of its home fleet, including Class 50s, Class 52s, Class 40s, Class 14 ‘Teddy Bears’ and Class 20s No 20048, which currently reside on the way to iron.

Class 31 31466, which visited the Fall Diesel Gala in 2021 and has remained at SVR ever since, will also be on the list, along with Class 46 #D182 which arrived for the Spring Diesel Festival and stayed for a extended period. .

Ahead of its starring role at the Autumn Diesel Bash, “Alycidon” is set to host diesel footrest experiences on the railroad, with a large number of seats already sold out.
