Teamsters Canada Rail Conference pledges to work through lockdown deadline to reach collective agreement
LAVAL, QC, March 16, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ – Canadian Pacific (CP) has served the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) with a lockout notice. If there is no negotiated agreement between the parties, CP will lock out the union on March 20, 2022at 00:01
Locomotive engineers, conductors, trainmen and yardmen employed by CP Rail recently voted 96.7% to authorize the strike.
“It was well known that CP was going to force a work stoppage and lock out our members. That’s exactly what they did,” said David FultonCFTC spokesperson. “At the bargaining table, CP continues to lay off our members‘ demands and are unwilling to negotiate the problems they have created. We remain committed to reaching an acceptable agreement that addresses our members’ concerns. Our members are fully engaged and will be ready should CP execute the notice. »
The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference is committed to working with federal mediators and reaching a negotiated settlement. The Union is ready to stay at the bargaining table until March 20 lockout time and beyond.
Key issues include wages, benefits, pensions and work rules.
