The Cabinet Appointments Committee (ACC) approved the appointment of Vinay Kumar Tripathi, Managing Director, North Eastern Railway, as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board, New Delhi.
The Cabinet Appointments Committee approved a six-month extension, that is, until December 2022.
According to an official statement from the North Eastern Railway, Tripathi did B Tech (Electrical Engineering) from Roorkee and joined the railways through the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) group from 1983. His first assignment was in as an assistant electrical engineer on the Northern Railway. .
During his distinguished career, Mr. Tripathi successfully fulfilled the important post of the Electrical Department of the Northern, Central and Western Railways, as well as the key positions of Director of the Divisional Railways, North Central Railway, Allahabad, Chief Engineer of Electric Locomotives, Additional General Manager of Western Railway and Additional Member / Traction at Railways Council.
He has completed graduate management training programs in Switzerland and the United States.
Mr. Tripathi played a key role in bringing advanced three-phase locomotives into service and indigenizing them, which are now the workhorse of Indian railways.
“Under his able leadership, North Eastern Railway won two Railway Board shields, one in sales management and the other in the racers hall category,” the statement said.
Mr. Tripathi has extensive experience in railway management and administration. It is also popular among railway officials and personnel.
